How do I move my Exodus wallet from one computer to another?

If you are planning to use a new computer (desktop or laptop) and are wondering how to move Exodus from the old computer to the new one, you've come to the right place!

First, you will need the secret 12-word recovery phrase of the wallet you'd like to move.

Remember, you must never save your secret 12-word phrase or wallet password in ANY sort of digital file.

This includes…

  • Notes - on your phone, on your computer, in a cloud-based note service like Evernote, etc.
  • Plain text files
  • Images
  • Cloud-based storage services like Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive, Box, etc.

ANY sort of digital file is exposed to the Internet with all of its dangers like hackers, viruses, phishing attempts, keyloggers.

Always write down your secret 12-word phrase (or print it) on a piece of paper and store it in multiple, safe, and secret places - if you lose your secret 12-word phrase, no one can help you get your wallet back.

On your new computer, install Exodus from and restore your wallet using your secret 12-word phrase.

When you're done, you can uninstall Exodus on the old computer.
