How do I create a new bitcoin address?
This article covers how to enable multiple Bitcoin addresses on both Desktop and Mobile.
In this article
By default for new Exodus wallets, when you open your Bitcoin wallet inside of Exodus and click Receive you will be shown only one SegWit address and one Legacy address inside of your Bitcoin wallet. This is how to enable multiple addresses:
Please open up your Bitcoin wallet inside of Exodus and click on the three dots in the top right hand corner of the Bitcoin wallet, then click on Advanced Options and just toggle on Enable Multiple Addresses.
The instructions are much the same for mobile, please open up your Bitcoin wallet inside of the Exodus app and tap the gear icon in the top right hand corner of the Bitcoin wallet, then tap to toggle on Multiple Bitcoin Addresses.
What does enabling Multiple Addresses mean?
When you are in Multiple Address mode, you will still see only one SegWit and one Legacy address.
Each time after you use an address to receive Bitcoin, a new address is automatically created. So the next time you click Receive you will see a different and brand new Bitcoin address. This will happen for both SegWit and Legacy addresses.
Therefore, if you use a new address for every transaction, you will always have another new one ready for use.
If you would like to go back and see all of your Bitcoin addresses that you have used in the past then please read this article to see all of your wallet addresses.
Why Create a New Bitcoin Address? Can’t I Use the Same One?
Always using new addresses makes your financial activity hard to track. This makes your transactions on the Bitcoin network more private.
Please remember that addresses are reusable so feel free to use the same one if it is easier for you.
