Mobile: How do I add a Bitcoin legacy address?

If you're having trouble sending Bitcoin (BTC) to your Exodus mobile wallet, you may need to enable an option to use a different address format. Bitcoin addresses come in a few different formats. Addresses starting with bc are native Segwit addresses, while addresses starting with 1 are Legacy addresses.

SegWit addresses follow a modern format that is meant to increase the Bitcoin network's capacity and bring down transaction fees.

By default, Exodus mobile starts you off with a SegWit address. However, not all wallets and crypto services support sending to SegWit addresses yet. For this reason, you may want to use a Legacy address to receive funds in your Exodus mobile wallet. Here's how to enable your Legacy Bitcoin address:

Go to the Profile section of your wallet by tapping the icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
Tap the Settings button.

Then make sure that Enable Bitcoin Legacy Address is checked.

Go back to the wallet section. Now when you choose to receive Bitcoin (BTC), you can now use a Legacy address if you like.
