Monero: Why can't I send or exchange Monero (XMR)?

Monero Wallet is waiting to confirm

If you see the below message in your wallet, please don't worry! XMR requires deposits to be confirmed on the blockchain before your XMR can be sent from Exodus.

If your deposit is still pending on the network and flagged as such in Exodus, this means you will need to wait until the transaction is confirmed before those XMR tokens are included in your available balance. Typically, this should not take more than 20 minutes. However, during periods of high network traffic, it may take longer.

Monero wallets require at least 10 confirmations of any transaction before being able to send or exchange. If you are an advanced user, you can override this requirement from the Advanced drawer

You can always check your pending transaction on the blockchain. To do this, click on the Pending transaction in Exodus, and then click the transaction ID. This will open a new tab in your browser where you can see the current network status of your transaction.

Refreshing your Monero Wallet

If you think your wallet may be out of sync with the network, the first thing to do is refresh your wallet.

During the refresh, the sending of funds is disabled. This means you will not be able to send your Monero or exchange your Monero whilst your wallet is refreshing. Your Monero wallet will need to fully sync with the network before sending is activated.

So if you see this message:

Or this one:

This is completely normal. All you will have to do is wait for the sync to complete and you can check the progress of the sync by opening the advanced drawer:

Once the sync has completed, you will be able to send and exchange your Monero once again!
